NewLife Rules & Guidelines

These rules exist to keep NewLife fair, enjoyable, and focused on quality roleplay. No ruleset can cover every possible situation, so use common sense, act in good faith, and prioritize the experience of everyone involved.

Rule guidance: Examples help explain intent but are not exhaustive. Staff may consider context, severity, history, and the overall quality of the scene when reviewing a situation.

Prohibited Roleplay

Review the guidelines below before taking part in scenes covered by this section.

Vigilante RP

Civilian characters may not make crime-fighting their primary gameplay loop or act as unofficial law enforcement.

Example: Hunting suspected criminals around the city because your character believes they need to “clean up the streets.”
Allowed: Defending yourself or another person during an immediate threat and reporting criminal activity through normal roleplay.
Not allowed: Patrolling for criminals, organizing civilian hit squads, or repeatedly inserting yourself into police work.

Hitman RP

Paid or contracted killing-for-hire roleplay is not permitted unless a specific server event explicitly authorizes it.

Example: Accepting cash, goods, or favors in exchange for murdering or seriously injuring another character.
Allowed: Organic conflicts that develop through ongoing roleplay and remain within all other combat rules.
Not allowed: Advertising, arranging, or accepting assassination contracts.

Suicide RP

Suicide and self-harm roleplay is prohibited. Keep serious real-world mental-health topics out of scenes.

Allowed: Character stress, fear, grief, or emotional conflict handled without self-harm themes.
Not allowed: Threatening, depicting, encouraging, or roleplaying suicide or self-harm.

Pregnancy RP

Pregnancy and childbirth roleplay is not supported on NewLife.

Not allowed: Using pregnancy as a storyline, medical scene, leverage, or character mechanic.

Terrorism RP

Terrorism, mass-casualty attacks, and real-world extremist themes are prohibited.

Allowed: Server-approved criminal scenarios that stay within robbery, hostage, and violence rules.
Not allowed: Bomb threats, extremist organizations, attacks designed around mass civilian casualties, or real-world terror references.

Cop Baiting

Do not intentionally provoke law enforcement only to force a chase, shootout, or police interaction.

Example: Repeatedly doing burnouts in front of officers or intentionally committing minor offenses solely to make police chase you.
Allowed: Police attention that naturally follows your character’s actions or an existing roleplay story.
Not allowed: Manufacturing meaningless police contact because you are bored or want action.

Value Your Life

Review the guidelines below before taking part in scenes covered by this section.

NVL (Not Valuing Life)

Your character must behave as though their life, safety, and long-term consequences matter.

Example: Ignoring a firearm aimed at you from close range when you have no reasonable escape or advantage.
Allowed: Taking calculated risks when your character has a believable chance to survive.
Not allowed: Treating serious threats, crashes, gunfire, or dangerous situations as if death has no consequence.

Driving

Drive in a way that fits the vehicle, road, conditions, and current roleplay scene.

Allowed: High-speed driving during a justified pursuit or emergency while still reacting to major crashes.
Not allowed: Launching ordinary cars off cliffs, repeatedly driving through impossible terrain, or ignoring severe collisions.

Death, Respawn & Logging

Review the guidelines below before taking part in scenes covered by this section.

New Life Rule (NLR)

After your character dies and respawns, do not immediately return to the same conflict or use information from the death to seek revenge.

Allowed: Continuing unrelated character storylines after respawning.
Not allowed: Returning directly to the death scene to recover items, identify attackers, or retaliate.

Combat Logging

Do not disconnect, force-crash, or otherwise leave the server to avoid active roleplay or consequences.

Allowed: Leaving after the scene is clearly finished, or reconnecting promptly after a genuine crash and continuing the scene when possible.
Not allowed: Disconnecting during detention, robbery, pursuit, medical treatment, confrontation, or staff-requested interaction.

Respawning

Do not use respawn as a shortcut out of active roleplay when EMS, police, or other participants are still handling the scene.

Allowed: Respawning when server mechanics permit it and the scene has reasonably ended.
Not allowed: Respawning to escape arrest, avoid identification, or bypass medical roleplay.

Combat & Violence

Review the guidelines below before taking part in scenes covered by this section.

RDM (Random Deathmatch)

Violence must have meaningful roleplay context and reasonable escalation before lethal force is used.

Allowed: Using force after a scene has clearly escalated to a believable life-threatening conflict.
Not allowed: Shooting, stabbing, or attacking someone with little or no prior interaction or justification.

VDM (Vehicle Deathmatch)

Vehicles may not be used as weapons without an immediate and believable life-threatening reason.

Allowed: Using a vehicle to escape an imminent threat when no reasonable safer option exists.
Not allowed: Intentionally running players over because of an argument, robbery, or minor conflict.

Gunplay over Roleplay

Do not rush to firearms when conversation, negotiation, retreat, or another roleplay option is still reasonable.

Allowed: Gunplay that develops naturally after meaningful escalation.
Not allowed: Ending every disagreement with gunfire or provoking scenes specifically to create shootouts.

After Downing Someone

Once another character is incapacitated, do not continue unnecessary attacks or use the downed state for griefing.

Allowed: Continuing the roleplay scene, securing the area, calling medical help, or interacting within server mechanics.
Not allowed: Repeatedly striking, shooting, or humiliating an incapacitated player without a valid scene purpose.

Roleplay Quality

Review the guidelines below before taking part in scenes covered by this section.

Powergaming

Do not force outcomes, abuse mechanics, or perform actions your character could not reasonably accomplish.

Example: Using an emote, animation, or game mechanic to bypass a locked door or force another player into an outcome they cannot respond to.

FailRP

Maintain believable character behavior and respect the reality established by the scene.

Not allowed: Ignoring injuries, treating serious scenes as jokes, or intentionally breaking immersion to gain an advantage.

Low Quality RP

Repeatedly shallow, disruptive, or consequence-free gameplay that offers little roleplay to others may be moderated.

Allowed: Simple scenes and casual interactions that still respect other players and the world.
Not allowed: Repeated one-line robberies, meaningless violence, or interactions designed only to farm money or reactions.

Misuse of /me

Use /me to describe observable actions or details, not to force thoughts, outcomes, or information another player cannot know.

Allowed: /me checks the inside pocket of the jacket.
Not allowed: /me successfully steals the wallet and the other person does not notice.

No Lootboxing

Do not treat downed players as random containers to search purely for valuables.

Allowed: Taking items when the scene provides a clear roleplay reason and the action follows server rules.
Not allowed: Running from body to body after fights to collect everything you can.

Property Customisation

Property placement and customization must remain realistic and may not be used to exploit collisions, access, or visibility.

Not allowed: Blocking entrances, creating impossible cover, or placing objects to clip through restricted areas.

Metagaming & Communications

Review the guidelines below before taking part in scenes covered by this section.

Metagaming

Do not use information your character did not learn through legitimate in-character means.

Example: Watching a stream, Discord message, or friend’s screen to locate someone in-game.

Speaking OOC

Keep out-of-character discussion out of active scenes unless a server mechanic or staff member requires it.

Allowed: Briefly addressing a genuine technical issue when absolutely necessary.
Not allowed: Arguing rules, staff decisions, or Discord matters in the middle of roleplay.

In-Game Communications Only

Use approved in-game communication systems for information that affects active roleplay.

Not allowed: Using private Discord calls or external chats to coordinate live criminal, police, or competitive gameplay.

Don’t Break Character About Staff

Do not threaten reports, staff punishment, bans, clips, or tickets during an in-character dispute.

Allowed: Finishing the scene and reporting concerns afterward through the proper system.

Character Swapping

Do not switch characters to gain information, bypass consequences, re-enter a scene, or assist another side of the same conflict.

Not allowed: Leaving a scene on one character and immediately returning on another to help friends.

Account & Community

Review the guidelines below before taking part in scenes covered by this section.

18+ Only

NewLife is intended for adults. Members must meet the community’s minimum age requirement.

English Only + Working Microphone

A clear working microphone and functional spoken English are required for normal roleplay communication.

Realistic Character Names

Character names should fit the setting and may not be obvious jokes, celebrity impersonations, slurs, or disruptive references.

Zero Tolerance — Discrimination & Prohibited Topics

Harassment, hateful conduct, discriminatory slurs, and deliberately offensive real-world extremist content are not tolerated.

Griefing

Do not repeatedly target players, businesses, groups, or locations simply to ruin their experience.

Not allowed: Harassing the same player across unrelated scenes or repeatedly disrupting a location without roleplay purpose.

AFK

Do not remain AFK in situations where your character occupies limited resources, blocks scenes, or avoids consequences.

Conflicts of Interest

Staff, department members, and community leaders must avoid using privileged information or authority to benefit their own characters.

Fair Play & Modifications

Review the guidelines below before taking part in scenes covered by this section.

Aim Assistance

Unauthorized aim assistance, macros, recoil scripts, or tools that provide a combat advantage are prohibited.

Unfair or Unrealistic Mods

Client modifications may not remove intended visual limitations or provide information/visibility unavailable to normal players.

VPN, Proxy or Cloud Gaming

Connections that interfere with security, ban enforcement, or reliable account identification may be restricted. Contact support if you have a legitimate need.

Exploiting

Do not knowingly abuse bugs, duplication methods, unintended mechanics, or map flaws for advantage. Report significant exploits privately to staff.

Real World Trading (RWT)

In-game money, items, vehicles, property, or services may not be bought, sold, or exchanged for real-world money or goods.

Unfair Mods

Any software or modified files that create an unfair gameplay advantage are prohibited, even if they are not specifically listed here.

Jobs & Whitelists

Review the guidelines below before taking part in scenes covered by this section.

Whitelist Point Cap

Department and whitelist participation may be limited to prevent conflicting roles and preserve balanced staffing.

Job Pairing (Per Character)

Characters may not hold combinations of jobs or positions that create obvious conflicts of interest.

No Crime While Clocked In

Employees in public-service or protected whitelisted roles may not commit unrelated crime while clocked into that role.

Misuse of Job-Issued Equipment

Job vehicles, weapons, tools, records, uniforms, and access may only be used for legitimate job-related purposes.

Cooldown After Crime

When a job or department requires a post-crime cooldown, complete that cooldown before clocking into the protected role.

Crime & Character Conduct

Review the guidelines below before taking part in scenes covered by this section.

Interfering with Robberies

Do not insert yourself into an active robbery unless your character is directly involved or has a strong, established roleplay reason.

Don’t Join Existing Fights

Do not join an ongoing fight or shootout simply because you recognize a participant or want to help a side.

Police Pursuits

Pursuits should develop naturally. Avoid repeated stunt driving, baiting, or unrealistic escalation solely to prolong a chase.

Don’t Farm Gameplay

Do not repeatedly trigger the same high-action activity simply to generate money, police responses, kills, or clips.

No Camping Illegal Locations

Do not wait at known criminal locations purely to ambush or farm players entering or leaving them.

Looting

Looting must be connected to the scene and should not become the sole purpose of violence or conflict.

Breakouts

Jail, prison, or custody breakouts require meaningful planning and roleplay. Do not exploit mechanics or force repetitive rescue attempts.

Don’t Bait Services

Do not call police, EMS, mechanics, taxis, or other services into staged ambushes without a legitimate roleplay scenario.

No Forced Statements

Do not use threats or mechanics to force another player to make an out-of-character admission, rule statement, or staff-related statement.

During Active Crime & Police Situations

Give active scenes room to play out. Uninvolved characters should not crowd, follow, interfere with, or repeatedly circle police/criminal scenes.

Public Listings

Public advertisements and marketplace posts must remain in character and may not be used to openly advertise prohibited criminal services.

Character Independence

Your characters are separate people. Do not transfer knowledge, grudges, assets, or relationships between them without legitimate in-character development.

Scams & Transfers

Scams must remain within server rules and may not rely on OOC deception, account access, exploitative transfers, or circumventing ownership systems.

Street Races

Street racing should occur through believable roleplay and may not be used as an excuse for unrestricted VDM, griefing, or endless police baiting.

Robbery Participation Limits

Review the guidelines below before taking part in scenes covered by this section.

No Vehicles Inside Robberies

Do not place vehicles inside robbery interiors or use them to block doors, exploit cover, or bypass intended entry points.

Robbery Participation Limits

Follow the participant limits configured for each robbery or criminal activity. Extra players may not shadow or assist from outside the limit.

Cayo Perico Incursions

Review the guidelines below before taking part in scenes covered by this section.

Cayo Perico Incursions

Cayo Perico activity must follow any event, access, party-size, and combat restrictions announced by NewLife staff.

After Extraction

Once an incursion is complete, do not immediately re-enter or re-engage solely to reset the fight or bypass event limits.

Robbing & Holding Up Players

Review the guidelines below before taking part in scenes covered by this section.

Robbing & Holding Up Players

Player robberies require believable initiation and should create roleplay, not function as rapid item farming.

Allowed: A planned robbery with clear demands and a reasonable opportunity for the victim to respond.
Not allowed: Running up to random players, issuing a one-line demand, taking everything, and immediately leaving.

Hostages

Hostages must be real participants in the scene. Do not use alternate characters, friends acting as fake hostages, or uninvolved players without proper roleplay.

Robbing Law Enforcement & Emergency Services

Police and EMS should not be treated as equipment farms. Robbing service members requires substantial scene justification and must follow any server-specific restrictions.

Taking Hostages & Kidnapping

Review the guidelines below before taking part in scenes covered by this section.

Friend Hostages

Do not use willing friends or associates as fake hostages to gain robbery advantages, payouts, or police concessions.

Hostage Roleplay

Hostage scenes must give the hostage meaningful roleplay and should not become extended harassment or forced inactivity.

Hostage Demands

Demands must be reasonable for the scene and may not force impossible, rule-breaking, or out-of-character actions.

Time Limits

Do not hold someone indefinitely. Keep hostage scenes moving and release or resolve them within a reasonable period.

Repeated Hostages

Do not repeatedly target the same person or service for hostage scenes across a short period.

Government Facilities

Restricted government areas require valid roleplay access. Do not kidnap people or force entry simply to manufacture high-risk scenes.

Kidnapping Police & EMS

Kidnapping emergency personnel requires exceptional roleplay justification and must follow any active department restrictions.

Interfering with Police Situations

Do not take hostages or create secondary incidents purely to pull police away from an unrelated active scene.

Police Specific Rules

Review the guidelines below before taking part in scenes covered by this section.

Police Response Limits

Law enforcement must respect any active response caps, scene limits, and department procedures for criminal activities.

Panic Buttons

Use panic buttons only when the character has a reasonable opportunity to activate them and the situation justifies the emergency response.

Vehicle Repairs

Police may not repeatedly repair or replace vehicles mid-scene to erase meaningful pursuit consequences unless department policy and server mechanics allow it.

Party Limit Exemptions

Any law-enforcement exemptions to civilian party limits must be specifically defined by NewLife policy or the activity’s rules.

Vehicle Impounding During Active Scenes

Do not impound vehicles while the related scene is still actively developing unless necessary for safety or explicitly permitted by policy.

Police Intervention in Shootouts

Officers entering an active shootout should prioritize scene awareness, proportional response, and established department procedure rather than instantly escalating.

Streaming Rules

Review the guidelines below before taking part in scenes covered by this section.

Sensitive Job Information

Do not stream restricted interfaces, private job information, confidential records, or other information that would compromise active roleplay or department security.

Don’t Stream Staff Channels

Private staff channels, tickets, reports, administrative tools, and confidential meetings may not be broadcast or recorded for public release without authorization.

Group & Territory Rules

Review the guidelines below before taking part in scenes covered by this section.

Territory

Group territory must be established through roleplay and server systems. Territory does not grant unrestricted permission to attack, rob, or harass anyone entering an area.

Pressing People

Groups may question or confront others when there is a roleplay reason, but may not repeatedly intimidate random players simply because they enter an area.

Group Membership

Group membership, alliances, and participation limits must follow the current server rules and may not be bypassed with unofficial “associate” groups.

Gang Conflicts

Gang conflict should be story-driven, proportionate, and capable of de-escalation. Avoid endless kill-on-sight cycles or OOC-driven rivalries.

Contacting Staff

Review the guidelines below before taking part in scenes covered by this section.

Staff Will Not Intervene in Active Roleplay Scenes

Unless there is an immediate serious issue, finish the active scene before requesting a staff ruling. Staff may choose to observe and review afterward.

In-Game Reports

Use the in-game report system for issues that need timely staff attention. Keep reports concise and factual.

Player Reports (Website)

Use the website report system for evidence-heavy or non-urgent reports that require screenshots, clips, or a detailed timeline.

Speaking to Staff

Be respectful and truthful when speaking with staff. Disagreement is allowed; harassment, threats, or intentionally withholding relevant information is not.
